Evelyn Elizabeth Brenneck, age 74. of Manlius, NY, died Saturday, July 5, 2025. Evelyn was born August 23, 1950, in Brooklyn, NY to her parents George and Veronica Dietrich. She was nicknamed “Pinky” by her uncle Floyd and was fondly called Pinky by friends and family her whole life. 

Evelyn was a dear sister to Agnes Dietrich, Georgette Desomma and Veronica Detommaso. She is survived by her loving children Patricia Dietrich, George Dietrich and Scott Brenneck (Christie Brenneck). Her adoring grandchildren are Devin, Derek, BreAnna, Anthony and Matthew. Evelyn is also survived by 8 nieces and nephews, 23 great nieces and nephews, and 4 great, great nieces and nephews, all whom she loved dearly. She was known lovingly as “Grandma B” to her grandchildren and many of their friends and extended family. 

Evelyn attended John Adams High School and studied Cosmetology at the U-B-S Institute. She later styled hair at Gloria’s Salon on Liberty Avenue in the Richmond Hills neighborhood of Queens.  She went on to teach Cosmetology at LIBS in Manhattan and Hempstead, NY. In her retirement, Evelyn moved to Upstate New York. Her love of hairstyling continued as she “did hair” for the fellow residents of her senior living complex. She also helped care for her grandchildren and enjoyed shopping, reading, visiting area sites, holidays, parties and going to local restaurants and shops with her sisters and friends. She enjoyed the simple pleasures of life: a good book, a cup of coffee and a chat with a relative and going on little adventures with family and friends. She will be remembered as the strong matriarch of the family who also had a soft spot for her family, and especially the children in her life.

Visiting hours will be on Friday, July 11, 2025 from 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM at McManus-Lorey Funeral Home, 2084 Horse Block Road, Medford, NY

A prayer service will be held at 6:00 pm on Friday, July 11, 2025 at McManus-Lorey Funeral Home, 2084 Horse Block Road, Medford, NY with Deacon James DiGiovanna officiating. 

A private cremation will follow all services.
