Charles J. Klostermann of Coram, NY, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on September 11, 2025.

Charles was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Born on October 16, 1942, Charles grew up in Ridgewood, NY, to Anna and John. He was adored by his grandparents and aunts and was lovingly referred to as Butch. He entered the US Navy after High School but unfortunately due to the uniforms being wool and he being allergic, his dreams of being a Naval Officer were cut short. Charles then went to work for his parents knitting mill and eventually became the owner and operator of Rosewear Knitting Mill for the next 35 years. 

He was introduced to his future wife at a party and after a year of courtship, which included dates that consisted of 5 cent White Castle burgers, he married his beloved English Lassie in 1965. Dorothy and Charles shared 51 wonderful years together that included their four children, their 9 grandchildren who affectionately referred to him as Poppy, and their great granddaughter. After he retired from knitting, he started his next chapter working for Hicksville UFSD, first as a bus driver then Manager of the District Warehouse. Finally after 14 years, Charlie decided it was time for retirement. In his free time, Charlie enjoyed snowmobiling at his cabin in Brantingham, playing blackjack in Atlantic City, fishing off his boat with his grandkids, and he was an avid skeet shooter.

Charles is pre deceased by his wife, Dorothy, and his son John. He is survived by his children Dawn, Kimberly, and Stephen, his daughter in law Nancy, his sister Lois, and his grandchildren and great granddaughter. 

His legacy will live on through all the many lives he touched and his sense of humor and laughter will never fade. 

Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the McManus-Lorey Funeral Home, 2084 Horse Block Road, Medford, NY

The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, September 20, 2025. 

A private cremation will be held.
