Salvatore DiSalvo Obituary

Salvatore DiSalvo, of Shirley, New York, passed away on October 23rd, peacefully at home with his family by his side.  Salvatore was born on January 5th 1931 in Sicily, Italy. He grew up in Casteldaccia, Italy with 12 siblings until he immigrated to the United States at the age of 26. He worked as a mason for many years until joining the Long Island Railroad.  He will be remembered for his deep love for his family, his generous spirit, and his ability to make everyone laugh no matter the occasion. His greatest joy came from becoming “Poppop,” a title he wore with endless pride and love.  He is survived by his devoted wife, Teresa, who was his partner in life for 66 years; his children, Domenica and Anthony; and his adoring grandchildren, Emily, Jenna, Madison, and Christopher. He was welcomed into eternal rest by his beloved daughter, Rita.  Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, October 26, 2025 from 2:00PM - 6:00PM at the McManus-Lorey Funeral Home, 2084 Horse Block Road, Medford, NY 11763.  A Mass of Christian burial will be held 9:00 am on Monday, October 27 at St. John The Evangelist Church, 25 Ocean Ave, Center Moriches, NY.  Entombment will follow in Washington Memorial Park, Mount Sinai, NY.
