It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Anthony J. Cava, PE, of Medford, NY, who left us peacefully on March 30, 2026, at the age of 78. Born on November 17, 1947, in Astoria, NY to his parents the late Frank and Susie Cava.

A distinguished Regional Air Engineer with over 30 years of dedicated service to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC) in both Region 1 and 2, Anthony enjoyed is many years at the NYS DEC. His commitment to public service was further exemplified during his tenure as a lieutenant with the National Guard, where he served his country with pride.

Anthony was known for his love and devotion to his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Carol (Dessi) Cava, his sister Phyllis Heaney and her husband Michael, his brother in law Joseph Dessi and his wife Marie and his late brother-in law Adrian and his wife Patricia Dessi, and a multitude of cherished nieces and nephews, including Joseph and Tricia Dessi, Matthew and Shamane Dessi, Mark and Antonella Dessi, Christopher and Laura Dessi, Stephanie and Patrick Kiley, Susan-Kate and Marc Kelly, and Thomas and Christina Heaney. He will be remembered fondly by his ten great-nieces and four great-nephews, who brought joy and happiness to his life.

Anthony's family and friends will gather to honor his life and legacy at the McManus-Lorey Funeral Home, 2084 Horseblock Road, Medford on Sunday, April 12, 2026 from 3 - 8 PM. A prayer service willbe held at the funeral home on Sunday, April 12, 2026 at 7:00 PM, lead by Pastor Jay Hart.  His Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 13, 2026 at 11:00 AM at the McManus-Lorey Funeral Home. Following the service, he will be laid to rest with honors at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Coram, NY.
