William George Gartung, age 85, of Medford NY passed away on April 14th, 2020 in his home with his loving wife by his side. William (Bill) was born in Astoria to William and Mary Gartung on December 4th, 1934. He went to high school at Seton Hall in Patchogue and graduated in 1953. He began fixing radios with his father at age 16, and at age 21 he took over the business of Gartung Radio and Television for the next thirty-five years. His customers had a deep appreciation and fondness for ‘Bill’. He was great at fixing nearly anything. Bill enjoyed tinkering with old tractors and anything built by Ford. William and his wife, Elizabeth (Rose) Gartung met during high school, while playing on a baseball field in Medford.
