Obituary of Nina Doss

Nina Doss, age 97, of Medford died Thursday, October 5, 2023. Nina was born January 2, 1926 in Siberia. Nina Doss was the Beloved Daughter of the late Stepan and Olga Kulyk. Loving Wife of the late Tom Grayson Doss. Adored Sister of the late Alla Kulyk. Nina is survived by her Daughter Olina and Son In Law Heriberto Borrero. Also survived by her 2 Granddaughters, Stephanie Curry and Katherine Palazzo. Nina was blessed with 6 Great Grandchildren, Grayson, Violet, August Curry, Anthony, Hailey and Joseph Palazzo. Also survived by her Neice, Svetlana and her Family in Kyrgyzstan. The Hallmark in Nina's life was her love and devotion to her family. Nina came to the United States in 1950 along with her parents as a displaced family, after surviving the horrors of WWII. She loved her adoptive country and very proud of her Ukranian Heritage. Nina was an excellent cook, specializing in her ethnic dishes. Nina was also an excellent seamstress. She loved to embroider and was an avid reader. Nina provided a loving home to numerous dogs and cats over the years. Nina loved to provide comfort, food and care to homeless cats and dogs as well. Nina loved being in touch with nature with all of the colorful flowers, animals and foliage. She especially loved the majesty of the trees and could identify every one of them. Her favorite tree was the Birch tree which is native of her Ukranian homeland. Those who knew Nina, were always aware of her great love, kindness and generosity. Nina was a soft, gentle and loving woman but she was also a very strong woman who overcame many hardships and challenges. Even during her final year of life with her health declining, Nina displayed a quiet dignity, courage, faith, beautiful smile and strong will to live. Nina always showered her family love and appreciation until the end. Nina will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Her family will always love her and never forget her. They will be comforted by Faith, knowing and believing that they now have a special Guardian Angel in Heaven, who will love and protect them all.

Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM & 7:00 -9:00 PM at McManus-Lorey Funeral Home, 2084 Horse Block Road, Medford, NY

A prayer service will be held at 3:30 pm on October 10, 2023 at McManus-Lorey Funeral Home, 2084 Horse Block Road, Medford, NY. 

A graveside service will be held 11:30 am on Wednesday, October 11 at St. Andrew's Ukrainian Cemetery, 280 Main Street, South Bound Brook, NJ. Burial will be in St. Andrew's Ukrainian Cemetery, South Bound Brook on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at 11:30 am.
