Obituary of Barbara Ann Johnson

Barbara Ann Johnson, 75, passed away Saturday February 4th surrounded by her family. Barbara was born July 14, 1941 to the late Christian J. Vandenberg and Veronica Dehm Vandenberg in Brooklyn, NY. She was predeceased by her husband Frank Eugene Johnson and her brother Richard Vandenberg. She will be greatly missed by her loving daughter Andrea Marie (Brian) O’Loughlin and three grandsons Aidan, Chase and Logan, her Sister Mary Taboski, niece Marianne (Kevin) Choursey, niece Susan (Peter) Karp, nephew Robert (Margot) Taboski, and her late niece Patty (Ken) Donovan. She attended Our Lady of Lourdes Elementary School in Brooklyn, NY and graduated in 1959 from St. Michael's Commercial High School in Brooklyn, NY. She went on to graduate from the Barbizon School of Modeling in 1971 and graduated from Farmingdale State University in 1974. She was an Administrative Assistant for the NY State Division of Parol, The United States Air Force, United States Navy and retired from the IRS in 2003. Barbara was a devout catholic and was a parishioner of St. Sylvester’s Parish. She enjoyed dancing, golf, swimming and floral design. In later years she found joy in a watercolor painting group at St. Sylvester’s parish. Barbara will be greatly missed and loved. Arrangements are entrusted to McManus-Lorey Funeral Home, 2084 Horse Block Road, Medford, NY. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 3:00 - 5:00 PM and 7:00 - 9:00 PM at the funeral home. Funeral service will be on Thursday at 8:30 AM from the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be at St. Sylvester R.C. Church on Thursday at 9:30 AM. Interment will follow at Calverton National Cemetery.
