Bill Brown was born in the Bronx, New York to Lillie Mae Byrd. He has two brothers, William Pope of Queens, New York and Thomas Gilbert of Georgia and a sister, Vivian Davis also from the Bronx, New York. Bill was a hardworking man that had a quiet personality. Once he got to know you his humor came out and could be very entertaining, especially when it came to dancing. Bill was not a good dancer but that never stopped him from getting out on the dance floor and doing his thing. He was also king of the grill. Whenever we had a cookout or barbeque at the park or in our backyard, Bill was in charge of the grilling. Prior to his untimely death, Bill passed the gauntlet down to his son, Marcus, who has taken over the grill in his father’s honor. Bill and Mildred met in 1973 at a Christmas dance in the Bronx and dated for eleven years. They had a wonderful time during those eleven years traveling the world. They visited places including Germany, France, Puerto Rico as well as several places on the mainland of the United States. Bill and Mildred were married in December of 1983 and have stayed together for 36 years. Bill Brown also joined the U. S. Army in 1983, looking for better opportunities. He served for three years and was honorably discharged in 1986. Bill then attended and graduated from Suffolk County Community College with an Associate’s degree in Applied Sciences. Prior to that he worked for many years as a mechanical engineer and after achieving his college degree, was promoted to data input. Bill and Mildred started their family in 1989 with the birth of their daughter, Simone and later in 1990 with the birth of their son, Marcus. Bill was very involved in his children’s lives including sports, karate and various other activities. He is survived by his lifetime partner and wife, Mildred, his daughter, Simone, his son, Marcus, his brothers, William Pope, Thomas Gilbert and his sister, Vivian. He is also survived by his nephews Bryant Pope, Eric Pope, William Pope Jr., Logan Robin, Tyree Pope, Latoya, Kelly, Theresa, Emyni, Skyler, Mirical and a host of grieving family and friends. Bill Brown will be solely missed by his wife, family and friends. His family would like to thank everyone for their kindness in this hour of sorrow.
