Carole Intravia (nee Carubia), 71, of Medford, died December 18, 2021 after battling cancer. Maintaining her sense of humor to the end, she passed away at home surrounded by her family. Carole “Crubs” to her oldest friends) was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She was an elementary school teacher, a volunteer and a homemaker. Born and raised in Brooklyn, she lived in Medford since 1975.
Carole is survived by her husband, Jim; children, Diane Skorupski and husband, Phil; Adam and wife, Jenny; Timothy and wife Ariel; Emily Intravia and husband, Branan Whitehead. Also by seven wonderfully spoiled grandchildren; and by loving brother, Bob Carubia and wife, Irene. Carole was a Met fan but her heart was with the Brooklyn Dodgers and was pleased to see Gil Hodges voted into the Baseball Hall of Fame.
Her ashes will be interred in Calverton National Cemetery. As she requested, some of her ashes are to be spread over the backyard graves of her dogs and on the beach on Coney Island, where she spent much of her childhood.
The family will receive visitors at McManus-Lorey funeral home, 2084 Horseblock Road, Medford 11763 from 2-4 and 7-9 on Wednesday, December 22. At 8 pm, family members and others will share thoughts about her life. A burial ceremony will be a private family affair at a later date.
