There are people in our lives whose influence will stay with us. Aunt Nancy was that person for me. I am so lucky to have had her in my life. Growing up with an aunt who was more like a big sister was so much fun. When she and Aunt Rosemarie we’re together it was like a party. They made everything fun. I remember when Uncle Louie started coming around, he was so handsome. I had such a crush on him. When Anthony came along I remember being jealous that I no longer had her undivided attention. Then 3 more boys came along and the family got bigger! She gave me the honor of being Robert’s Godmother when I was just 16.
Her New Years’ Eve parties ( that I never missed) are memories that my children enjoy too.
Aunt Nancy had a gift of humor. She could turn everyday things into funny stories. There were many struggles in her life and she always fell back on her sense of humor to help her get through.
She gave me a passion for reading. We’d pass books back and forth and have great talks about the stories. For a while she had a job working with books and it was like working with treasures. We both loved the feel of a new book and she’d say “it feels so good I could eat it!”
Aunt Nancy will always have a special place in my heart. I’ll never pick up a book without thinking of her.
