Condolences to Max and the Loeffler family. Richie: I cherish the times that Don, Mike Pepe, and I would gather at our home in East Setauket and sing and play some old time rock and roll. Three guitars, one and a half voices, and lots of fun and great memories looking back. Maxine: I cherish (and chuckle about) the times when I had a classroom adjacent to Don’s office. I would be teaching My English class when my class would break into giggles and laughter. Wondering why, I looked toward the wall between my classroom and Don’s office (which did not go all the way to the ceiling) to see puppets frolicking above the wall. Don was the puppeteer. Never a dull moment that year!!! And those farting parties . . . !! Our hearts are with you, Don and family!!!

Regina (Max) and family, we have been next door neighbors for 50 odd years and have watched each other’s children and grandchildren grow. We’ve shared some laughs like the time Don stepped on a slug barefoot or when he watched my two angels as they tossed tomatoes we won’t say where. He never told anyone either. Don was a wonderful and very funny man and a pleasure to know. We will miss him always.

Mr. Loeffler, I thanked you about 25 years ago for allowing me to be me when I was in your classes 40 odd years ago (egads)...I will always remember you as one of two teachers in High School who allowed me to explore beyond the boundaries of the syllabus and find my voice when writing. Thank you again. Rest in Love. Memory Eternal.
